About Us

Hi, 

We're Johnny and Stephanie Polasik.

Cedar Key holds a very special place in our hearts; we've been part of this wonderful community for the past decade. Our journey here began as marine biologists. Stephanie started her work at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) building by the Channel 4 bridge in 2015, and I met her on my very first day here in Cedar Key as a coworker back in 2016. For almost 9 years, we pulled in thousands of nets, and counted and measured hundreds of thousands of fish to help preserve these resources for generations. While working full time for the FWC we simultaneously built a house in Bronson and obtained our Master's degrees in Fisheries science. We are no strangers to complex dynamic workloads. After our time with the FWC, we both took jobs with the University of Florida's Nature Coast Biological Station (NCBS). Our next adventure was purchasing Pelican Vacation Home Rentals in 2025. While it's a big change, our Master's degrees and long involvement in the community have allowed us to prosper in the new business. 

The community holds so much history for us. Not only did we meet here, but we even got married on Atsena Otie Key in 2022 with beautiful Cedar Key in the background. Our amazing daughters Eva and Violet, were born in Gainesville and Ocala in 2023 and 2026. Along with our 2 rescue dogs Goose the GSP, and Honey Bee the pointer mix, Eva has spent some very special years here in Cedar Key, Violet will be right behind her!

Our decade of involvement in the Nature Coast area has allowed us to forge so many friendships here. Together with all our wonderful friends, we've weathered all the horrendous hurricanes since 2016, from Hermine to Helene, and have seen firsthand how the island has changed and evolved. We‘ve been here to see this community rally, every.. single.. time! It is truly impressive how everyone comes together and lends a hand to help their neighbors in need.

In addition to helping clean up and rebuild after  every one of these storms, we are committed to giving back to the community. It’s been such a special place for our family that it just seems right to give back and help people out. We’re proud to sponsor any local event brought to our attention. This deep connection and community involvement will guide us as we continue to share the special experience that Pelican Vacation Home offers to so many wonderful people around the globe.

Alongside Stephanie and myself we have three Managers in the Office: Terra Dunn, Isabelle Stephenson, and Tora Brewer.

• Terra Dunn, who holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA), brings expertise in management, marketing, and finance. With a background as a Human Resources liaison for government organizations, she has strong attention to detail and organization.
• Tora Brewer has deep local connections and extensive customer service experience from her time with the National Park Service.
• Isabelle Stephenson knows every aspect of the business and is highly active in the Cedar Key community. Her outstanding customer service and dedication to local engagement make her an invaluable part of our team.

We want people to experience the same magic, and fall in love with Cedar Key the same way we did, way back when we first arrived. That’s a trip that melts the stress away and shows them everything that is Cedar Key.

For Prospective Owners:

• We pride ourselves on being the premier short term vacation rental provider in the area with straightforward transparent services. 
• We offer the local touch with personalized support and fast response times to guests, which is extremely hard to find in the short term vacation rental industry. This extends to our Owners as well.
• We don't put any restrictions on our owners' use of their property. It's your property, you should be able to use it as much as you'd like.

• Because of the quality of and our confidence in our exceptional service, our contracts renew monthly. If you are not happy with our services, we don't believe you should be stuck with us for a full year or more.
